I) THE BATTLEFIELD WAS QUIET – NO SHOTS FIRED IN THE NIGHT-BUT, SOLDIERS ON BOTH SIDES LAID IN WAIT FOR THE MORNING LIGHT. AS DAWN WAS BREAKING ACROSS THE LAND, A FARMHOUSE CAME IN SIGHT AND, FROM THAT FARMHOUSE CRAWLED A CHILD – HIS PARENTS DEAD INSIDE CHO 1) NO SOLDIER DARED TO FIRE HIS GUN—NOT A SHOT FROM EITHER SIDE INSTEAD THEY WONDERED IF THE OTHER SIDE WOULD END THAT BABY’S LIFE HOW COULD THE WAR CONTINUE WHEN THAT CHILD WOULD SURELY DIE AND, SO, THEY WAITED BREATHLESSLY IN REVERENCE FOR HIS LIFE II) SUDDENLY, A SOLDIER RAN FROM THE SAFETY OF HIS SIDE WITH DETERMINED, SELFLESS COURAGE HE RACED TOWARD THAT CHILD HE SCOOPED THE BABY FROM THE GROUND, HELD HIM TIGHTLY TO HIS SIDE AND, RAN AS FAST AS HE COULD RUN WAY BACK BEHIND THE LINES CHO 2) THERE WAS SILENCE ON THE BATTLEFIELD FOR THE SOLDIERS ALL WERE STUNNED. THEN ANOTHER MIRACLE OCCURRED—THE SOLDIERS DROPPED THEIR GUNS. THEY STOOD ON BOTH SIDES OF THE FIELD AND ECHOED OUT A CHEER AND, UP AND DOWN THOSE BATTLE LINES THEY WIPED AWAY THEIR TEARS III) BUT, ALL TOO SOON THAT PEACE HAD PASSED, AND THE SOLDIERS DROPPED BACK DOWN PICKED UP THEIR GUNS AND RESUMED THEIR FIGHT—FOR THIS WAS A BATTLEGROUD. AS THE ROAR OF GUNS, THE CRIES OF MEN, THE HATRED AND THE BLOOD TOOK THE PLACE OF A LITTLE CHILD WHO HAD UNIFIED THEM ONCE CHO 3) IF DIFFERENCES COULD FIND A WAY TO SERVE THE COMMON GOOD IF THERE COULD ONLY BE A WAY TO LOVE JUST THE WAY WE SHOULD A CHILD CAME DOWN FROM HEAVEN ONCE WHOSE MESSAGE IN THE NIGHT WAS PEACE, GOOD WILL, AND LOVE TO ALL—ON THIS BATTLEFIELD OF LIFE (PA 1-287-495) © 2005 FOLKSTONE MUSIC PUBLISHING COMPANY – BMI c/o Lynn Beckman Music Productions, P. THERE’S A CROSS ON THE HILL – OVERLOOKING THE TOWN A STATEMENT OF FAITH IN THE KING MADE OF STEEL—NOT OF WOOD—IT WAS SET THERE WITH LOVE BY THOSE WHO REACH OUT AND BELIEVE IT’S RADIANT LIGHT SHINES THROUGH THE NIGHT LIKE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD IT PROCLAIMS AND, ALL THOSE WHO SEE---LOOKING UP FROM THE STREETS ARE REMINDED THERE’S “POWER IN THE BLOOD.” (BRIDGE 1) OH, THERE’S POWER, POWER, WONDER-WORKING POWER IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB. YES, THERE’S POWER, POWER, WONDER-WORKING POWER IN THE PRECIOUS BLOOD OF THE LAMB. 2) SOME MIGHT NOT AGREE – THAT THERE SHOULD BE A CROSS ON THE HILL ABOVE THE TOWN IN THESE MODERN TIMES WITH SO MANY KINDS OF RELIGIONS, OPINIONS, AND BELIEFS BUT, MORE POWER TO--- A CHOSEN FEW TAKING FAITH FROM THE PEWS TO THE STREETS WHO WANT TO REVEAL WHAT SOME WOULD CONCEAL--LORD JESUS, AS SAVIOR AND KING !!! (BRIDGE 2) AT THE CROSS, AT THE CROSS, WHERE I FIRST SAW THE LIGHT AND, THE BURDENS OF MY HEART ROLLED AWAY IT WAS THERE BY FAITH, I RECEIVED MY SIGHT, AND NOW I AM HAPPY ALL THE DAY. 3) I REMEMBER A HILL, WHERE THE CROSS OF CHRIST WAS REAL WITH NAILS IN HIS HANDS AND HIS FEET SPLATTERED FROM HIS OWN BLOOD – DYING FOR LOVE REJECTED IN JERUSALEM’S STREETS BUT, HIGH ABOVE THE TOWN WITH GOD THE FATHER LOOKING DOWN THE SALVATION PLAN WAS COMPLETE WHAT JESUS ACHIEVED WAS NOT JUST FOR ME, HE DIED FOR ALL WHO BELIEVE (BRIDGE 3) KNEEL AT THE CROSS, LEAVE EVERY CARE KNEEL AT THE CROSS, JESUS WILL MEET YOU THERE ----- WON’T YOU MEET JESUS THERE ? © 2005 Folkstone Music Publishing Company---BMI PA 1-287-511 Lynn Beckman Music Productions, P. Verse 1: Green grass grows Around the house we lived in Flowers bloom by the garden wall The postman brings the mail each morning It all looks great --- But, there’s one thing wrong Chorus: I’m paying for the house I don’t live in --- anymore The mortgage debt doesn’t change with divorce The sign still reads, “Home, Sweet Home” in the kitchen But, Home, Sweet Home, ain’t my house anymore Verse 2: The Welcome mat Is right where I left it On the porch at our front door But, it don’t welcome me like it used to Except when I take her the child support © 2005 FOLKSTONE MUSIC PUBLISHING CO.—BMI and PARADISE RIDGE MUSIC PUBLISHING CO.—ASCAP Lynn Beckman Music Productions, P.
